The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has served notice that it will not hesitate to take legal action against individuals and groups that politicise their actions and concerns.President of the GMA, Dr. Kwabena Opoku Adusei said the association has observed that genuine requests for improved welfare by doctors are interpreted by some people as politically motivated. He was addressing journalists in the Upper East regional capital, Bolgatanga.Dr Adusei stated: “The National Executive Council wishes to place it on record that the actions of the GMA are not motivated by partisan political considerations and as such politicians and the general public are entreated to desist from examining the affairs of the association through partisan political lenses.”He added that while the association remained committed to engaging on relevant health policies and programmes, “The Ghana Medical Association as a body shall remain neutral on partisan political issues while encouraging free political expressions of individual members.”Dr Opoku Adusei was quick to add that “the GMA however would like the general public and politicians to know that it may be compelled to take the necessary legal action against anybody or group of persons who seek to send the name of the association and its members into disrepute.”
