The Akuafo Adamfo Cocoa Purchasing Company has offered scholarships to more than 60 needy but brilliant students nationwide, to enable them to study in state-owned universities.
Mr Theophilous Agyare-Asare, General Manager in charge of operations, of the company, who announced this to the Ghana News Agency at Agona Swedru, said the gesture formed part of activities marking the celebration of Cocoa Producers Alliance Day.
He said the company has offered scholarship for 15 students from cocoa growing areas to attend tertiary institutions annually.
Mr Agyare-Asare said the company has also instituted awards for cocoa farmers to encourage them to increase productivity.
He said last year, the company assisted in the construction of a classroom block for the Presbyterian Junior High School at Pramkese in the Eastern Region.
Mr Percy Yalley, Quality Assurance Manager of the company, said the company had organised workshops for cocoa purchasing clerks to enable them to buy good quality cocoa beans.
