Some citizens of Binduri in the Bawku municipality of the Upper East region have sued government over the decision to site the capital of Binduri district in Bazoa, a suburb of Bawku. The residents claim an earlier decision was taken to name Binduri as the capital. With Binduri gazetted as the legally recognized district, the residents say they feel shortchanged, after the capital was moved to Bazoa.According to them several petitions to the Local Government ministry yielded no response, as such they have had to resort to the courts for a determination on the matter.Lead plaintiff Philip Ayamba told Joy News they believe they have a case as regard the choice of Bazoa as the district capital instead of the gazetted Binduri and they would want the court to determine that or otherwise.
