A catechist has appealed to religious bodies to step up preaching and education on morals in order to do away with indiscipline in the society.
They should use the word of God to preach discipline all the time.
Mr Joseph Annor Asante, a catechist of the Ebenezer congregation of the Presbyterian Church, Ghana, at Essam near Akyem Oda in the Birim South District, said this at a special church service on Sunday.
The service was to thank God for making it possible for the Essam community to benefit from a donation of medical equipment to the town's clinic.
He said immoral acts such as rape, stealing, human rights abuses, child labour, alcoholism and drug abuse were on the ascendancy.
Mr Asante appealed to Christian youth to be selective in whatever they did and refrain from going to church in obscene dresses.
He appealed to church leaders to give financial support to the youth in the church to undertake youth programmes.
Mr. Reginald Sackey, assembly member for Essam Electoral Area, appealed to the Birim South District Assembly and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to assist the town to have electricity.
Mr. Sackey said the community had bought eight low-tension poles out of the required 56 but since: "We are poor farmers, we find it difficult to acquire the rest".
He said efforts made by the community to generate additional funds for the poles had proved futile and that the assembly and ECG should assist them.
