The Iranian government has promised President John Mahama its full support and cooperation as he assumes office as the fourth President of the Fourth Republic.
Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi in a courtesy call on President Mahama at the castle said they are impressed with the way Ghana is fast transforming under the leadership of President Mahama.
He said they are prepared to offer Ghana any help needed to further fast track the development of the country.
“Ghana is enjoying one of the best economic rates of growth worldwide, not only in Africa,” he said.
President Mahama assured them he will do everything possible to deepen the rapport between the two countries with his assumption as the President of the country.
He said he was hopeful after appointing his ministers, mechanism would be put in place to start the joint committee meeting in the middle of this year between the two countries.
President Mahama mentioned that the five MOU the two signed in their last meeting in 2010 are on the verge of implementation.
He also welcomed plans to upgrade the Iran Clinic into a fully fledged hospital.
The president also took the opportunity to congratulate Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on his assumption of office as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and promised his support to make his chairmanship successful.
