Information reaching Myjoyonline.com indicates that Dr Raymond Atuguba has been appointed as secretary to the President.
A source close to the presidency disclosed this, Tuesday afternoon.
An official confirmation is expected soon. He is the first of many appointments to be made by President John Mahama.
Dr Atuguba, a law lecturer at the University of Ghana is widely known for his role as Executive Secretary of the Constitution Review Commission.
He was also prominent in a legal tussle against telecommunications giants MTN.
He also recently filed a case on behalf of PNC Secretary Bernard Mornah which is seeking to annul CI 74, portions of which he said were not consistent with some provisions of the 1992 Constitution.
Dr. Atuguba is expected to take over from Mr. J.K Bebaako Mensah who was appointed as Secretary by the late President Mills.
