Two renowned Lawyers with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Dominic Ayine and Tony Lithur are highly speculated to be appointed by President Mahama to the Attorney General’s Department as Minister and Deputy respectively.
The two have been associated with the NDC for some time now with Dr. Ayine contesting and winning the newly created Bolga East constituency on the ticket of the party.
Mr. Lithur is presently leading President Mahama’s defence team in the petition by the NPP challenging his victory at the December elections.
Dr. Benjamin Kumbour and Ebo Barton Odro who managed the Justice Ministry in the last administration have taken up new positions as Majority Leader and First Deputy Speaker in parliament.
However, it’s not clear who would be managing the Ministry following the President’s directive for appointees to remain at post in a caretaker capacity.
Nonetheless, Joy News sources say Dr. Ayine and Mr. Lithur are front runners in the list of persons being considered for the job with the hope that they will combine their experiences as fine lawyers to help new government confidently prosecute it cases in court after the previous administration lost a string of high profile political cases.
