Cane-wielding, angry supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress Wednesday besieged the precincts of the Supreme Court, apparently to whip some persons they did not name. The Supreme Court was hearing a motion filed by the leadership of the NDC praying the court to join them in a petition filed by three members of the NPP, including its 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, challenging the results of the December polls as declared by the Electoral Commission.A man decorated in NDC colours and wearing a Mahama T-shirt, refusing to explain why his colleagues were carrying canes, told Myjoyonline’s David Andoh that they had wanted to enter the court yard but the police prevented them from doing so.He accused the police of being biased, saying they saw some supporters of the NPP being allowed entry into the court yard, but the same treatment was not accorded the NDC supporters. The angry supporters tried to force their way into the court premises but were restrained by the police. This created some commotion.A source said the NDC supporters brought the canes to chase out supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party from the court area.
