Achimota Golf Club would open 2008 activities with the President's Putter Championship on Saturday, January 12.
Mr Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the club who announced this in Accra on Thursday, said the competition, which is open to amateur and professional golfers would be sponsored by Mr Mike Ezan, President of the Club.
He said about 100 golfers from the various golf clubs in the Greater Accra Region are expected to participate in the Championship.
Mr Oteng-Aboagye said some of the players expected to battle each other for the Putter include Mike Ben-George, Prof. George Ntsiful, Wisdom Asempa, Dan Dennis and Paul List, all of the Achimota Golf Club.
The Tema team, which would be led by their captain, Kofi Gyau would also include seasoned players like Victor Brave-Mensah, Baba Akologo, A.S. Ibrahim and Emos Korblah, all of the ‘Professionals’ fame.
There would be prizes for 'The Longest Drive on Hole 17' and 'The Nearest to the Pin'.
