The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has called on religious leaders to join forces with his office in the fight against corruption.
He emphasized the urgency of the matter, citing Ghana's stagnant position on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) as evidence of the nation's persistent struggle against corruption.
Mr. Agyebeng emphasised the potential impact of clerics' involvement in anti-corruption efforts, given their influential positions in society.

Speaking at the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council Conference of Heads of Churches and Organizations on Thursday, February 15, 2024, Mr. Agyebeng urged church leaders to utilise their platforms and influence to condemn corrupt practices and advocate for ethical lifestyles.
"With 71 percent of Ghanaians identifying as Christians, why does corruption persist?"
"We need greater attention on this matter. If the representatives of God amongst us actively take on the corruption fight, we will attain remarkable heights. So please join us by publicly calling out corrupt activities," he said.
Ghana received a score of 43 out of a total of 100 in the Corruption Perceptions Index 2023, as revealed by Transparency International (TI) on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. This placed Ghana in the 70th position out of 180 countries and territories assessed.
The CPI report highlighted that Ghana has experienced four consecutive years of stagnation in its anti-corruption endeavors.
Alarmingly, the report noted that in four out of six Sub-Saharan African countries with stagnant scores for four or more years, there was a subsequent decline in their CPI scores the following year, indicating a troubling trend.
