The Managing Director of Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), John Kofi Mensah has presented a cheque donation of ₵200,000 to the Covid-19 Trust Fund.

Dr Mensah said the donation was part of the Banks support package of ₵1 million to help fight the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

“The rest of the money will be used in purchasing Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) like hand gloves, face masks, hand sanitizers and other disinfectants to be distributed to Medical Research Institutions, Farmer Based Organizations, the Ghana Police Service and identified Regional Hospitals nationwide, among others” he said.

He said the total contribution by the bank will exceed ₵1 million as it has already contributed to ₵10 support from the Ghana Bankers Association, waived all interbank transfer fees on the Banks digital platforms and mobile wallet transaction fees below ₵100.00.

In addition, the Bank has also reduced interest rate by 200 basis points as agreed by the Ghana Bankers Association and will soon roll out a special package for Farmers to reduce their burden in these difficult times.

“Currently we have drastically reduced our workforce by about 52%, all our branches have been mandated to buy hand sanitizers for their personal and customer use and also we are observing the social distancing protocol at all our meetings and daily interactions,” Dr Mensah disclosed.
