Celebrated Togo International Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor has officially written his name in the book of philanthropism on the African continent.
The 28-year old is well known for his charitable activities within Africa and even beyond.
In the last five years the player has been actively involved in giving back to society through his tour of hope which saw him donating thousands of dollars to the Otumfour Educational Fund, renovating schools in deplorable state, providing bore holes for two communities in the Upper West Region of Ghana, Hamile and Koro, organizing and participating in soccer clinics for children among others.
It is in this light that the Tottenham Hotspur player officially set up and launched his charity organization, the SEA Foundation which will see deprived communities and individuals on the continent benefiting from relief projects.
Launching the SEA Foundation in his plush Trasaaco Valley Apartment Friday, the ex-Arsenal striker pledged “his continuous support towards putting smiles on as many faces as possible.”
“Coming from a very poor background and having made it this far, the best I can do for Ghana where I grew up, Togo where I was born and the continent from which I hail, I think I should just give back to the people who have made me who I am today,” he said.
The event saw a number of individuals, including GFA President Kwesi Nyantekyi, ex-Ghana International Nii Odartey Lamptey, spokesperson of the GFA Ibrahim Sannie Daara and Adebayor’s personal assistant being awarded by the player for their roles in making the SEA foundation a success.
Emmanuel Adebayor will treat his fans to a beach soccer fiesta at the Labadi beach on June 30 and interact with them again at his residence on Sunday July 1.
