President Akufo-Addo has urged all Africans to come together to lift the image of the continent.
He explained that for the continent to make progress, there is the need for all Africans in the diaspora to consider coming home to support efforts being made to transform the continent.
"If we can all come together to lift this African continent, our respect will be lifted and we get the recognition we deserve. It is in all our interest to lift this continent. I believe that our better days are ahead and not behind us. So amid economic and other challenges, we should be proud of ourselves and continue working very hard for our people", President Akufo-Addo said.
President Akufo-Addo made the call in an address read for him by the Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, over the weekend during the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Accra.
The event brought together Members of the Diplomatic corps, Members of Parliament, Members of the Council of State, traditional leaders, the clergy and the Egyptian community among others.

The commemoration marks a great milestone in the annals of the people of Egypt as it signifies a moment the leadership of the country decided to change from a Monarchy to Republican status.
"We are going to partner in education, industry and many other sectors of the country, be it Ghana or Egypt, we need to realize that an Island of prosperity cannot exist in a sea of despair,” President Akufo-Addo said.
The President recounted the bond of friendship between Ghana and Egypt which dates back to several decades and commended Egypt for the strides it has made over the years in various facets of life which make it a great nation.
He stated that "if the entire African continent is not making progress, the progress of Egypt is nothing and so would the progress of Ghana be. All our people and the whole of the continent must come together to lift the image of Africa. The Africans in the diaspora must come together to lift the image of Africa. The African in the diaspora is going to be respected when the African diaspora is going to wake up".

If we can all come together to lift this African continent, our respect will be lifted and we get the recognition we deserve. It is in all our interest to lift this continent. I believe that our better days are ahead and not behind us. So amid economic and other challenges, we are proud people.
The Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, Aldesouky Mahmoud Youssef, used the occasion to commend the brave men and women who fought for the liberation of the people of Egypt from their colonial master several decades ago.
He explained that the relationship between Ghana and Egypt could be described as cooperation between two great African countries as he pledged to work very hard to strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
The Ambassador urged all African countries to redouble its effort in the fight against climate change by leveraging technology and financial support to ensure a reduction in emissions in the country.
