Dutch side Ajax have confirmed that they will re-name the Amsterdam ArenA the Johann Cruyff ArenA after their most famous player, Johan Cruyff, who died in March 2016.
The tribute comes on what would have been Cruyff's birthday and had been mooted since his passing.
Cruyff is considered to have been one of the greatest players of all time and he played Ajax across two spells for a total of 11 years, managing them for a further three.
As a player eight league titles and three European Cups with the club, winning the Dutch Cup twice and the Cup Winners' Cup as a manager.
In a statement released on their website Ajax said "The parties are convinced that in this way justice is done to the memory of Johan Cruyff, and express the hope that the Johan Cruyff ArenA is an inspiration for players from all over the world."
The club also revealed that the mayor and the alderman have decided to name a street, square, bridge or other feature of the city of Amsterdam after Cruyff and Ajax's decision comes shortly after Barcelona, another of Cruyff's former clubs, had named their reserve stadium after him.
