The flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo, has congratulated His Excellency, President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the people of South Sudan on their achievement of independence on Saturday, July 9, 2011.
In a statement, he said the sacrifices made by generations of patriots, including millions of people have not been in vain.
“We are hopeful that you will use judiciously, the rich resources of your country to bring prosperity and enhance the dignity of your people,” he added.
It said the NPP had no doubts that Ghana and South Sudan would develop close ties and friendly co-operation to the lasting benefit of the two.
"We wish you God’s guidance and the best of luck in the discharge of your onerous duties as the first President of the new Republic, he expressed.
"God bless the Republic and the people of South Sudan."
