The Akwatia District Police Command has officially launched an investigation into an alleged assault on the third National Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Masawudu Osman, which occurred in Akwatia on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Alhaji Osman was allegedly assaulted during the by-election last Tuesday.
According to a police statement released on Thursday, September 3, the victim, Alhaji Osman, lodged a formal complaint following the incident.
He was immediately issued with a Police Medical Form to seek treatment at a hospital, with instructions to have the form endorsed by medical personnel and return it to the police to aid in further enquiries.
Authorities confirmed that the case has now been referred to the Eastern South Regional Police Command for continuation of the investigation.
