Asante Kotoko Communications Director, Sarfo Duku has revealed that Albert Amoah’s move to Libyan side Al Ahli Benghazi was concluded right after Friday's 5-1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club.
The club announced Albert's departure two hours after the game for an undisclosed fee.
According to Sarfo Duku, there was no agreement with the Libyan club before Kotoko left for the second leg, even though there were talks about the player's future.
It took just less than an hour for both parties to complete the deal to meet the transfer deadline of the Libyan window.
“We had wanted to extend the conversation. Unfortunately, the Libyan federation had to close its player registrations yesterday.”
“So obviously, we also have to consider the interest of the player, as against that of the club.
“And the conversation started way, way back, and there were a couple of clubs as well.
“But when we realized that the Libyans also had to register the boy [Albert] before the deadline, which was yesterday, we had no other option than to reach a deal which will be mutually beneficial to all the parties.
Don’t forget that Kotoko also needs money to run the club,” Duku stated.
