After five weeks of non-stop dancing, ten ladies have made it to the final showdown of the Dance Queen Africa finals to be held on Saturday October 17 at the Round Pavilion of the Trade Fair, La.
From the more than 350 dancers auditioned nationwide, 16 were selected. The 16 finalists went through a serialized dance show for the past five weeks, resulting in six (6) evictions.
Ten ladies, Gadlenne, Pat, Becca, Nana Ama, Felicity, Munira, Rita, Lianna, Queen and Yvonne have made it to the final show.
Dance Queen Africa which is a TVC Africa event in partnership with Phamous People, KAT and Crystal TV, is a contest created solely for young ladies to explore the significance of different types of contemporary dance forms primarily for entertainment and creative purpose.
The contest aims at promoting positive social values and behaviors whiles creating experience and participation of young ladies in the dance and music industry.
“The idea is to create a setting where people will watch a good dance show by the best female dancers Ghana has, without necessarily sitting throughout, but also partaking in the dance fun. A big jam, more like a mega niteclub”, says Verus Nartey, Event Co-ordinator.
All 10 finalists are expected to go through three rounds of Ghanaian traditional dance, Dancehall, hip hop/hiplife, choreography and battle, and highlife dance tasks rolled out by the judges.
Judges for the show include model/choreographer, Josh Ansah, musician, Slim Busterr and guest judge, Akosua Agyapong.
The winner of the ‘Ultimate Dance Diva’ will represent Ghana at the Dance Queen Africa final in Nigeria at a later date.
She will walk away with three thousand Ghana cedis cash, products from the sponsors, and a one-year management deal alongside the two runners-up.
Musicians performing at the event include Ayigbe Edem, R2Bees, Lynx Entertainment Crew, Skinny Legend and H-Mode.
