The police have arrested the man alleged to be behind the gruesome murder of a young woman in a guest house in Somanya.
According to Sgt Francis Gomado, the Acting Eastern Regional Police spokesperson, the arrest follows days of a manhunt for Charles Tetteh after the manager of the guest house reported the incident.
The manager of the facility filed a report at the police station after the staff found the dead body of the lady in a pool of blood.
He told them the suspect came to lodge at the facility together with the 25-year-old deceased lady on April 5.
The following day at about 12 pm, when it was time for them to check out, he visited the room only to see the lady in a pool of blood.
According to him, the suspect allegedly stabbed her to death with a knife and fled the scene.
Subsequently, the police invited family members including the husband of the deceased to the Somanya District Police to assist in getting relevant information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
Upon the arrival of the family, a worker at the guest house who was also assisting with the investigation pointed to the husband of the deceased as the man who came in with the lady to lodge.
The Acting Eastern Regional Police spokesperson said the suspect used a false name when he was lodging into the guest house.
Prosper Negble used Charles Tetteh, according to the investigators, as a pseudonym in order to hide his identity.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigation. However, the rationale behind the murder is yet to be known.
Supt. Gomado said the suspect will be put before court on Monday.
