The Chairman of First Sky Group Limited, Eric Kutortse, has called on governments to prioritise education.
Speaking at the 70th-anniversary celebration of Kpando Secondary School, he emphasised the need for sufficient funds, infrastructure, effective policies, and equitable access to quality education for all children, regardless of their socio-economic background.
Mr Kutortse cautioned against basing educational policies on party manifestoes and campaign promises, suggesting a focus on a national education policy that transcends political affiliations.
He stressed that such a policy would contribute significantly to building the required human resources for the nation.
In urging the community's involvement, Kutortse quoted Archbishop Desmond Tutu, stating that the collective responsibility of ensuring quality education lies with the community.
He emphasised the community's role in creating an ecosystem where education thrives, urging members to monitor students both within and outside the school environment.
Recognising the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the modern era, Mr Kutortse highlighted its potential to revolutionize various industries.
He advocated for dedicated AI courses for Senior High Students, stating that equipping the youth with AI understanding from a young age empowers them as innovators and problem-solvers in the digital age.
Commending recent efforts to digitize schools with learning management systems loaded onto tablets, Mr Kutortse expressed his willingness as the Executive Chairman of First Sky Group to partner with the government, ensuring that Kpando Secondary School benefits from this initiative.
Encouraging teachers and parents, Kutortse urged them to continue their efforts for the students and the nation.
He also motivated students to take ownership of their education, stating curiosity, critical questioning, and self-discipline. He concluded by urging students to aspire to become responsible and respectable citizens of their country through hard work and dedication.
