The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has refurbished the Ga Mantse palace at an estimated cost of over 350,000 Ghana cedis.
The refurbishment was done following the complaints by the Coalition of Concerned Ga Groups (CCGG) earlier this year. The CCGG accused the AMA boss of neglecting the Palace and threatened to have him removed if nothing is done about the state of the palace.
Speaking to Joy News, the Ga Mantse’s linguist, Odinibi Nii Anyaa Yartey expressed gratitude to the AMA for the first phase of the refurbishment.
The first phase entails the provision of four new offices and the renovation of sheds at the durbar grounds.
The linguist also praised the AMA for the renovation of the bathrooms and the provision a storage tank. He indicated that the chief's residence and the boys' quarters are yet to be refurbished.
The workers at the palace said they are grateful to the AMA and hoped the assembly will soon complete the good work they have started.
