The Minister for Works and Housing, Enoch Teye Mensah has debunked suggestions that Mr Amissah Arthur is new in politics and has no experience that would add value to the governance of the country.
The Governor of the Bank of Ghana was nominated to partner the president Tuesday and is yet to be vetted by parliament.
Policy think tank IMANI Ghana has described his nomination as 'a fantastic choice' but skeptics have cast doubts over his ability to excel in the political arena.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Wednesday, Mr E.T. Mensah stated that those who hold such view about the renowned economist, do not know him well.
He explained that Mr Amissah-Arthur has been actively involved in politics for years and was part of those who joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at its early stage of being founded.
“…When you talk about politics, he’s not a novice at all. When you talk about NDC, he is one of the men that we started with; pre-NDC, post-NDC he’s been part of the game and I think that he’s the best choice that we have made.”
The minister added that the new vice president “is bringing to the table experience, he’s bringing to the table competence.”
