Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan was left bitter in the stands after his Norwegian side Rosenborg crashed out from this season’s Uefa Champions League group stage.
Annan, who missed Wednesday night’s second leg tie due to suspension, agonizingly saw his side bow out at the final qualifying round on the away goal rule to FC Copenhagen.
Copenhagen needed a solitary but important 1-0 win at home to tie 2-2 on aggregate but the Danish sneaked through after a 2-1 first leg defeat last week.
Annan had offers for his services rejected by Rosenberg to aid their Champions League campaign.
He is now cup-tied and cannot move to a stellar club playing in Europe’s prestigious club competition.
Annan was key in Ghana’s quarter-final berth at the just ended 2010 Fifa World Cup finals in South Africa.
