The family of Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP and Minority Chief Whip, has moved to clarify his lineage and refute allegations of involvement in the escalating conflict.
At a press conference on Tuesday, held at the ancestral home of the MP’s late father, the family described recent accusations against the MP as politically motivated and unfounded.
They maintained that he is a legitimate royal of Adoagyiri with deep ancestral roots in the area.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Nana Opare Annoh, the Gyasehene of Marfo Krom, presented what he described as verifiable ancestral records connecting Annoh-Dompreh to notable royal figures in both Adoagyiri and Akyem Oda.
He named prominent ancestors, including the late chief linguist Ochami Kwaku and Nana Adonteng Kwesi Yahudira, as part of the MP’s lineage.
Tracing the bloodline through their forebear, Amakranche, he affirmed that the MP is the son of Chief Inspector Kofi Annoh and has strong ties to the royal family.
“These are not claims; they are historical facts,” he said.
The press conference comes in the wake of a viral video, which questions the MP’s origins and suggests his involvement in the ongoing chieftaincy clashes.
In the video, the speaker alleges that Annoh-Dompreh is neither a native nor of royal descent, and accuses him of fueling the conflict.
The family has responded with a firm ultimatum.
Nana Opare demanded a public retraction and apology within seven days, warning that failure to comply would result in both legal and traditional sanctions.
'We will not allow our family’s integrity to be dragged through the mud for political theatrics,' he declared.
The Adoagyiri chieftaincy dispute has grown increasingly volatile in recent months.
Earlier in June, violence erupted between rival youth factions, resulting in the tragic death of 35-year-old Masawudu Issaka.
The clashes led to road blockades, property damage, and a heavy police presence to restore calm.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh has publicly condemned the violence and visited the bereaved family, offering assistance with legal and medical expenses.
Nevertheless, critics—particularly from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)—have accused him of siding with one faction, a charge he and his allies firmly deny.
The NPP constituency executives in Nsawam-Adoagyiri have defended the MP, accusing elements within the opposition of exploiting the chieftaincy crisis to tarnish his reputation.
At a press briefing on June 3, they cited several peacebuilding initiatives led by the MP and accused certain individuals of leading a coordinated smear campaign.
They maintained that suggestions of the MP’s complicity in the conflict are baseless and driven by political motives.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has confirmed that investigations into the recent violence are ongoing.
Multiple arrests have been made in connection with incidents of arson and public disorder.
Authorities have assured residents that calm will be restored and justice served for victims and their families.
Concluding the press conference, the Annoh-Dompreh family appealed to the public to refrain from politicising traditional matters.
'Reckless statements, especially those made for social media attention or political mileage, can sow dangerous discord,' Nana Opare warned.
