Co-sponsor of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, Sam George has called out Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo for deliberately delaying the hearing of the anti-LGBT bill brought before the Supreme Court seeking to prevent the President from assenting to it.
The Ningo Prampram MP, who led a demonstration on Tuesday, October 8 against the delay in hearing the case has called on the Chief Justice to, as a matter of urgency, produce a timetable for the case to be heard.
The protest is to pile pressure on the Judiciary to fast-track the hearing of the cases.
In an interview with JoyNews he said, “They say the wheels of justice grind slow, but in this instance, the wheels of justice are not grinding. The Chief Justice has become an impediment to the wheels of justice.”
Mr George urged the Chief Justice “to either take herself out and allow justice to be done, or the people will take her out.”
He also noted that the Attorney General and the Chief Justice will be served with a petition.
“We will compel them, we will continue to raise the heat, the Chief Justice has no option, she should stop calling people and trying to get people to get into meetings to stop this.
“It will happen, she must either do her job or vacate her office for someone willing to do her job.”
