Police in Ashanti region have charged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional Communications Director, Akwasi Kyei, with assault after he allegedly caused the beating up of NPP panel member Baah Achamffuor.
A political discussion programme on Kumasi-based Fox FM almost turned bloody yesterday when about six physically built men entered the studio to beat up Mr. Achamffuor.
Host of the show, 'Ebobo ba', Kojo Kyeremanteng Nkansah, narrated to Joy News correspondent Kwasi Debrah that, Mr. Aheamfour made an allegation against a party member called Katakyie.
According to Nkansah, Katakyie called into the show to clear his name when suddenly they saw men forcing their way into the studio.
The men who came to the station on three motorbikes suspected to be members of the NPP started beating everyone in the studio starting with the host of the show and sped off after they were done.
According to Kwasi Debrah, the NPP Regional Communications Director had just entered FOX FM to question the inclusion of Mr. Acheamfour in the political discussion since according to him, he [Acheamfour] is not part of the regional communication team of the party, when this happened.
The Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye escorted Mr. Kyei to the Manhyia divisional police station for questioning.
