Archbishop Porter Girls have earned a sensational victory to shoot them into the preliminary stages of the 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
Despite pundits’ prediction of a close contest between the girls and their Sekondi neighbours, Sekondi College (Sekco), Porters proved to be too much for their opponents to chew.
They started the contest - which is the first qualifiers for the Western Region - in in style, opening a 10-point gap after Round One.
As the tie progressed, it was clear that although five schools were competing for a single spot, only one of them came armed to the teeth.
The cheers and applause in the GNAT Hall in Takoradi where the contest took place did not make it any easier for the opponents who visibly would have preferred to anything but play catch-up.
In the end, only the figures mattered for the records as the outcome was known halfway into the tie. The final scores stood at; Porters - 46 points, Sekondi College - 18 points, Shama SHS - 10 points, Daboase SHTS - 9 points and Gwiraman SHS - 7 points.

The results should inspire the Western Region-based school after the disaster that befell them at the 2019 competition.
After many years of starting their campaign from the one-eighth stage, the failed to earn that feat when they lost heavily to neighbouring St John’s School.
That defeat sent them not only out of the 26th edition of the show but down to the regional qualifiers which they did not have to worry about in years.
