The Asante Youth Association in the Ashanti Region has threatened to demonstrate over the dismissal of Prof. Othcere Addai Mensah as CEO of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
The pressure group has called on President Mahama and the Health Minister to reverse their decision and retain Prof. Addai Mensah in his position to complete the Heal Komfo Anokye initiative for better healthcare in the facility.

According to the group, Prof. Addai Mensah's two and a half years as CEO have brought significant development to the facility.
"His leadership has ensured the hospital now has twenty dialysis machines from two, and the Heal Komfo Anokye Project initiative has put the hospital in good condition for healthcare, among other ongoing developmental projects," they stated.
Assistant President of the Association, Nana Oppong Boadi, emphasized that politicizing the health system sets a bad precedent.

"Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital hadn't been renovated for decades, and it took Prof. Otchere Addai Mensah's initiative, endorsed by His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to embark on renovations," he said.
The youth leaders believe authorities should reconsider their decision and allow Prof. Addai Mensah to complete his contract next year, enabling him to finish ongoing developmental projects.

The youth group is unhappy politicians often seek medical care abroad, but do little to ensure health facilities like the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital are in good shape to serve the people.
They are calling for an immediate intervention.
