Residents from Ashaiman and adjoining communities in the Greater Accra Region have lauded a gesture by ASA Savings and Loans after they benefited from a free health screening exercise organised by the health facility.
The gesture was to reach out to residents within the Ashaiman (Valco Flat Market) and nearby communities to help address medical conditions and other health needs.
About 191 clients attended the event, with the majority being market women mostly customers of the financial institution.
The screening identified various health conditions prevalent among the participants, including musculoskeletal pains (lumbago) at 35%, peripheral neuropathy at 7%, insomnia at 15%, and eye disorders at 6%.
Additionally, cases of malaria, enteric fever, and others were observed, constituting 46% of the diagnoses.
Both customers and staff of ASA Savings and Loans, along with the medical team, expressed satisfaction with the event's proceedings.
Head of the Medical Team, Physician Assistant Isaac Okyere recommended that more funds be allocated towards the procurement of medications and other essential medical items, considering the high cost of healthcare delivery in the current environment.

A Medical Lab Scientist, Alhassan Haruna commended the gesture by ASA Savings and Loans and called for similar social services to be continued and replicated in other areas.
He also advised that future events should ideally be organized in market areas to maximize accessibility.
Ashaiman Area Manager for ASA Savings and Loans Limited, Richmond Afari Hayford emphasized the need to impact positively on society as an institution.
He said ASA Savings & Loans was also concerned about the general well-being of its clients and communities within which it operates.

The exercise, which was conducted by the Ashaiman Lebanon business centre of ASA Savings & Loans and held at the Valco Flat Market put smiles on the faces of 191 beneficiaries.
Other staff of ASA Savings & Loans present at the event included Sandra Minlan, the Assistant Branch manageress for Ashaiman Lebanon BC., and Joseph Abeku Annan, the Junior Divisional Manager for Accra East.
