The Police in the Ashanti Region gunned down seven armed robbers believed to be Fulani men in separate incidents on Saturday night.
In the first incident, the Police were forced to shoot to kill the armed robbers who had attacked a gold mining firm at Manso in the Amansie West District.
Head of the Buffalo Unit in the region, Police Supt. Joseph Nyaba confirmed the incident to XYZ News.
A team from the Buffalo Unit in the region was dispatched to the scene after the Police received information about the activities of the heavily armed robbers.
When the police arrived at the mine, the armed robbers immediately opened fire on them. The officers also opened fire killing six robbers in the process. Supt. Joseph Nyaba said three of the armed robbers managed to escape.
In a similar incident around the same time, another Buffalo team encountered armed robbers who had mounted a road block on the Sekyeredumase road. The robbers again opened fire on the police who also retaliated and killed one of them in the process. The others managed to escape the scene.
This brings to ten the armed robbers killed by the Ashanti Regional Police Command in a week. The Regional Police Command is therefore calling on the public to aid in their investigations.
