A total of 770,909 children, aged under-five years in the Ashanti Region, were immunized against measles in November, last year representing a 95.5 per cent coverage.
Dr Joseph Oduro, the Deputy Regional Director of Health Service, said the figure fell short of the target of 807,622 set.
He said the children were also given Vitamin "A" supplement during the three-day exercise.
Dr Oduro told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi that since year 2003, no child had died from measles in the region.
This should be heart-warming news as it shows that Ghana is on course to achieving the goal of reducing infant mortality.
He praised the various stakeholders who had over the years worked tirelessly to ensure consolidation of the gains made.
The Deputy Regional Director spoke of the need for more public education and social mobilization to promote child health and development.
