He said Mr Obeng was a true statesman whose contribution to the development of the country was unmeasurable.
He devoted and sacrificed his entire life for the progress of the country, Dr Sarpong asserted, and added, “he was a man who was never found wanting in any domain as he fraternised with anybody irrespective of the person’s political affiliation, and that alone portrayed him as a man of the people”.
Dr Sarpong said his powerful, brilliant illuminating presentations and eloquence at all functions he attended made him stand out and was admired by all.
He added that he had truly made a significant mark which many could learn from.
Dr Sarpong traced Mr Obeng’s contributions from the eras of former President JJ Rawlings, and former President Atta Mills to current President John Mahama and “in all these years, he was always the cynosure of all eyes as his presence was felt by all.
Dr. Sarpong, on behalf of the chiefs and people of the Ashanti Region, expressed condolences to the family, the wife and children.
