The Ghana Badminton Association alongside Tebel marked World Badminton Day at West Africa Senior High School (WASS), Adenta, with a donation of training equipment to the school.
A competition took place at the school's Assembly Hall as part of the celebrations, where the winner was offered a fully-funded trip to China to represent Ghana in the 2024 World Badminton Championship.
The event was also aligned with the global "Raise A Racket" campaign, which seeks to unite communities through a shared passion for badminton and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle.
President of the Ghana Badminton Association, Evans Yeboah, expressed his desire to have more people patronising the sport.
"World Badminton Day provides an opportunity to celebrate all that is great about the sport and I hope many millions of people discover how fabulous the sport is," he said.

The Headmistress of the school, Dr Shine Agatha Ofori, expressed her appreciation to the association and pledged to effectively utilize the donated equipment to advance the sport within the school and throughout Ghana.
Events Director at Ghana Badminton Association, Dr. Benjamen Baah Konadu, added, "World Badminton Day is more than just a celebration; it’s a movement to bring people together through the game of sport.
"The game of badminton requires agility, reaction, power, and delicate touches. It’s a sport for all ages and genders, and it’s fantastic to see our community come together to celebrate it."
There was an appeal to the government also to ensure the development of the sport in the country to raise the level of competitiveness.
Badminton was one of the sporting disciplines during the 2023 African Games which was held in Ghana in March.
