Ghana men's 4×100m relay team has been paired with World Champions, USA, and Olympic Champions Italy in Heat 1 of the Bahamas World Athletics Relays.
Comprising standout athletes like Joseph Paul Amoah, who clinched the Gold Medal at the African Games 2023, and Benjamin Azamati, the record holder for the nation's 100m dash, alongside promising talents Ibrahim Fuseini and Isaac Botsio, Ghana's team boasts formidable strength.
They will be seeking to displace world champions, USA, led by 100m and 200m sprinter, Noah Lyle's, while Italy, defending Olympic Champions have Marcel Jacobs, gold medalist in the 100m dash in the Tokyo Olympics anchoring.
Joining them in Heat 1 are host nation Bahamas, Liberia, Korea, and the Czech Republic. Despite their 15th global ranking, Ghana must secure a top-two finish to secure automatic qualification to the Paris Olympic Games.
While the team set a national record of 38.07s at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene two years ago, they've faced challenges in improving upon it.
Recent competitions saw Ghana clocking 38.43s at the African Games 2023, earning a silver medal, and 39.59s at the Penn Relays on May 28, 2024.
