The Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Tuesday, was mobbed in various parts of the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality when he took his series of Ramadan tours to the municipality.
The visit saw him touring numerous Mosques and Zongo communities in the municipality to fraternize with fellow Muslims in the twin city from the Takoradi Central Mosque where Dr. Bawumia partook in the afternoon Zuhr Prayers.
Speaking at the Central Mosque, Dr. Bawumia disclosed that he had decided to embark on the Ramadan tour to interact and seek the prayers of fellow Muslims in the powerful Ramadan month. He called on the Imam and Mallams of the Mosque to constantly pray for the Nation and its development.
“As we pray for various favours and blessings from Allah, I would kindly request that we also pray constantly for our nation, its peace and development”, he said.
From the Takoradi Central Mosque, Dr. Bawumia and his team visited the Sekondi Zongo Community where the NPP Running Mate paid courtesy calls on the Imam of the Sekondi Zongo community and the chief of the community. Prayers were shared at the homes of both the Imam and the Chief for Allah’s protection and guidance for Dr. Bawumia and his team.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who was accompanied by former Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama Boniface Abubakar Saddique, former Minister under the Kufuor administration, Mohammed Amin Anta, former MCE of the Tamale Metropolis, Mustapha Hamid, Spokesperson for Nana Akufo-Addo and Sulemana Abubakar, National Nasara Coordinator, took the opportunity while in Sekondi Zongo to also visit the office of the Council of Zongo Chiefs and Imams.
The Vice-Presidential candidate in the early evening joined worshippers at the Kojokrom Mosque for the Tafsir and the Magrib Prayers before visiting the Effiekuma mosque.
Dr. Bawumia had earlier in the day paid an unannounced visit to the Takoradi Market Circle where he was mobbed by hundreds of excited market women and merchants who hurried to shake hands with the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana. So excited were the market women, that many left their stalls and wares to follow Dr. Bawumia through the market readily composing various songs to cheer him.
