The Chairman of the Local Council of Churches in Bibiani-Anhwiaso, Rev Alex Gyebi has commended Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu for changing the political landscape of the country with his modesty.
Speaking during a campaign engagement of Dr. Bawumia and community stakeholders of Bibiani-Anhwiaso on Wednesday, Rev. Alex Gyebi said Dr. Bawumia, despite being the candidate of the ruling party, has demonstrated remarkable modesty, and has for the first time, changed the perennial problem of "abuse of incumbency."
"Foremost, we want to express our gratitude to Vice President Bawumia. The reason is that you have changed the narrative and we no longer see incumbent abuse," said Rev. Alex Gyebi.
"In the past, those already in government seeking office again display opulence. But since you started your campaign from day one, you're always in a bus. This shows that you are very modest. And for changing that narrative, we thank you."
"You are a unique politician and if all politicians emulate you, Ghana will really progress," said the clergyman.
While commending Dr. Bawumia, Rev. Gyebi also prayed for the Vice President and encouraged him to continue with his values of modesty should God give him the presidency.
"We are grateful to you for changing something for us. And I believe that if God gives you the seat you won't disappoint us and you'll continue to maintain what you are doing."
Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to the Clergy, Imams, Chiefs, and community members for their presence and encouragement.
In his interaction with them, the NPP presidential candidate spent time to explain the policies he intends to implement as president, including how his government intends to incentivise religious organisations, by supporting them and granting them special import duty waivers on materials and machinery they bring to Ghana for development in the areas of education, health, and others.
