Nana Eduah Kraman VII, the new Omankrado of Gomoa Beseadzi, has appealed to the Ministry of Energy to provide an electricity transformer to help resolve the problem of low voltage in the supply of power to the community. He said the provision of the transformer had become necessary due to the fast growing nature of the town and greater demand for the supply of electricity. Nana Kraman announced this at a durbar of chiefs and people to climax their Annual Akwambo festival at the weekend. The festival coincided with the enstoolment of Nana Kraman, to succeed his late Uncle Nana Boye VI, who died in 2004 and ruled the town for 24 years. He said the people could not use their electrical gadgets and the lack of regular power supply had affected the operations of small-scale industries and appealed to the Ministry to take a serious view of the issue to help promote businesses in the town. Nana Kraman stated that the people had spent 20 million cedis towards the construction of an early childhood development centre and appealed to the Gomoa District Assembly to support them with building materials to complete the project. He called on the Agona Swedru Area branch of the Ghana Water Company to install new stand pipe at the other side of the road to save children who cross the road from being knocked down by vehicles. Mr Kwame Asare Dokyi, Chairman of the Akwambo Planning Committee said the people had spent 40 million old Ghana cedis on the local market and praised the MP for Gomoa East Mr Sam Quarm for the donation of bags of cement towards the construction of the market. He urged residents outside the town to come home regularly to assist the development of the town. Nana Gyatuah V, Chief of Beseadzi urged parents to send their children to school especially girls, adding that education was key to development since it was the only legacy they could bequeath their children. He cautioned the youth to abstain from pre-marital sex to avoid teenage pregnancy and the HIV/AIDS pandemic. On the forth coming general election, Nana Gyatuah called on the political parties to conduct their campaign in a peaceful manner to ensure violence-free elections. GNA
