Professor Paul Buatsi, the acting Director of the Ministry of Education, has expressed worry about the emergence of pastors and ministries with questionable character in the society.
He said such pastors engage in rituals that exploit the ignorance of the masses and engage in miracles that only focus on materialism.
He stressed the need, therefore, for self-regulation within the church, give the increase in challenges confronting the body of Christ.
Prof. Buatsi was launching the International Clergy Association (ICA) in Accra last weekend.
The occasion was used to ordain 14 pastors and consecrate six senior ministers into the apostolic ministry.
Prof. Buatsi advised pastors to demonstrate their faithfulness to God by being honest, accountable and disciplined.
He admonished them to manifest the character of Christ, especially love, compassion, kindness, goodness and forgiveness.
Rev. Jeff Korum, an associate pastor of the Elim International Family Church, charged ministers of the gospel to make a change in the lives of the people by preaching the message of Christ to them.
"We need to tell people who have not yet heard about Christ. We must not allow our lives as pastors to be stuck in the cassock," he said.
Rev. Dr Charles Abban, president of the ICA, said the association would act as a regulatory body for ministers of the gospel and help license and ordain pastors.
He said the lCA also aims at bringing together the clergy worldwide to exchange ideas, knowledge and experiences.
