The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai in the Western Region, Alfred Amoah has appealed to stakeholders within the Bibiani Municipality to partake in the ongoing public education to carve Western North out of the Western Region.
Already the Electoral Commission has undertaken a limited registration exercise to enable it to carry out a referendum on the creation of the new regions.
In all, nine districts including Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, Juaboso District, Akotombra District will take part in the referendum on December 27, 2018.
The rest are Suaman District, Aowin District, Bia East and West Districts respectively that formed the proposed Western North Region.

Mr Amoah said, "As the constitution requires, we are expected to attain 50% turn out and 80% of the total turn out must vote yes after the polls".
He, therefore, admonished the political parties and stakeholders to put their political colours aside and come together as one family to propagate the benefits that come with the creation of the Western North to accomplish this historical achievement for future generations.
He made this appeal during a day’s stakeholders meeting held at the Bibiani Municipal Assembly Hall with the aim of adopting campaign strategies and raise resources to support public awareness exercise towards the referendum.

In attendance were, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) Mr. S.M.A Rahman, Municipal Information Officer (MIO) Mr. Francis Ghansah, National Commission for Civil Education Officer (NCCE), Martha Nneka Opara and Transport Operators.
Others present were Representatives from Ghana Education Service (GES), Assembly Members, Christian Council of Churches, Traditional Leaders, Liaise Officer Western North Secretariat and Media.
The stakeholders commended the Assembly for recognising their importance in the society.
They, however, pledged to contribute their quota to achieve the proposed Western North Region to enhance administrative purposes.
