The Speaker of Parliament says a bill to stop the promotion of activities of LGBTQI+ in the country will be introduced in the House this week.

Alban Kingsford Bagbin says the bill will be passed before the end of the year.

Speaking at a meeting of the Christian Fellowship in Parliament Tuesday, he said no amount of threats against MPs championing the bill will stop the House from getting it approved.

"Good will always triumph over evil and all those threatening the MPs who are leading this bill, please be warned. We can not be threatened in our homes.

"This must be stated loud and clear to those who have come to do business in Ghana, those who represent their country and think that they are right, we also represent our country and they would never and can never dictate to us how to live or not in this world," he said.

The Speaker said he is optimistic that the House, would pass the bill as soon as possible.

"I have gone through it, and I am sure, and I will confirm what Sam George has said, that this bill would be a reference point for many many countries. It is very detailed, very comprehensive and really a bill that we can refer to as justice," he said.

According to Mr Bagbin, the bill is done in accordance with all the provisions of the 1992 Constitution, the country's laws and international obligations.

"It is a law that even those who are against it would find it difficult not to accept it, and I want to assure all of you that we would create room this week for the bill to be presented to Parliament officially," the Speaker said.

The former Nadowli Kaleo MP said the bill will be referred to the appropriate committee and to go through the process.

"We invite anybody who has anything to add to or take away to appear before the committee. Then, the committee would present the report and take you through all the stages for processing the bill, and In Sha Allah, it would be passed this year," he said.

He added, "I know, God would see us through. Those who are thinking otherwise, please, be advised. Some MPs who do not have the heart to go with us, don't worry, we know about doubting Thomas'.

"Tomorrow, you would see the light, and you would follow the light. And so with this, I want to assure all of you that what you have done is the right thing to do."
