The Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi, Yussif Sulemana, has called for calm among his constituents following protests over his exclusion from ministerial appointments.
Speaking on the AM Show on JoyNews, Mr Sulemana expressed disappointment at the actions of some youth in the constituency, who resorted to burning tyres in frustration over the situation.
“For me, it was a very big shame when I saw that act yesterday,” he said. “I have not been sidelined in any way. The president himself is from Bole, my constituency, and for me, he is worth 60 ministers. What are we looking for a minister to do when we already have the president leading the country from our area?”
Mr Sulemana reassured the constituents that he has been in touch with the president and believes in his leadership. He added that the president is yet to complete his appointments and urged patience.
“The president knows me very well and will call on me if he deems it fit to assign me to any position. My focus is on working with him to bring development to our constituency. I appeal to my people to remain calm and stop the misconduct,” he said.
He further highlighted that the president’s presence in the constituency is already a blessing and urged his people to respect traditional authorities while giving the government time to deliver.
“So far, the appointments have been very fair. Let us support the president and allow him the peace and space to establish his government and deliver effectively. Our focus should be on development, not agitation,” Mr Sulemana added.
This comes after rising tensions in Bole-Bamboi over what some constituents perceive as a lack of recognition for their MP in the ongoing ministerial nominations.
