Assistant coach of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu has pointed out that the lack of support accounted for the team's poor result against Uganda in the African Nations Cup qualifier played last Saturday.
Accounting for the unsatisfactory result, the Assistant coach in a post-match interview observed that "when you are playing before your teeming fans and you realise that not everybody is behind you, sometimes it is difficult".
A steely determined Ugandan side picked a vital point against the Black Stars of Ghana in the Nation's Cup qualifier played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The Stars needed a controversial penalty in the second half to pull even after the Cranes had taken the lead on the stroke of half time.
The team was booed by sections of the fans who also hailed the Cranes of Uganda whenever they made dangerous incursions into the Stars' half.
Memories of a miserable World Cup outing in Brazil last June are still fresh in the minds of many fans especially as the Presidential Inquiry is investigating factors that contributed to the poor performance.
Maxwell Konadu believes this background had a telling influence on last Saturday's game.
"When you are playing football and you are doing well, all the nation is behind you... these factors are very very important. If you don't have certain thing or certain areas of your preparation are not going on well [it will affect you]. We cannot do it all by ourselves.
For a team that has come under fire from their own fans, following an embarrassing outing in the World Cup it was more a point lost than one gained.
The Assistant coach is therefore appealing to all Ghanaians to rally behind the team to ensure they return to winning ways.
The heat will be on the Black Stars as they head to Togo for the second header of the Nation's Cup qualifier.
