CEO of Akwaaba Group, Dennis Tawiah, has thrown his weight behind the building of the controversial National Cathedral.
He made his opinion public on Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM, last Saturday, June 18, 2022, during a discussion on the topic, “Is Ghana ready to receive 200,000 visitors in December?” Dennis Tawiah who believes the building of the National Cathedral can provide revenue for Ghana, mentioned, “I welcome it, I am in favour of it”.
The experienced entertainment entrepreneur cited The London Eye and O2 Arena in the UK as income-generating projects, insinuating that the National Cathedral could follow suit.
“As a country, I think that it’s something that’s going to be very good because we from the diaspora and people travelling to Ghana, these are the kind of attractions it brings”, Mr. Tawiah explained. His belief lies in the fact that it could attract a lot of tourists to the country.
However, he also mentioned that the timing of the project plays a role in how citizens welcome the idea of building a cathedral. The Akwaaba UK CEO opined, “it doesn’t matter if you did it last year, you do it this year, or you do it next year, you’re always going to be asking questions”.
Dennis Tawiah insists, it is a laudable to erect the edifice, stressing, “it will generate money, depending on how you look at it… for me, someone in the diaspora, it’s a very good idea”.
