The Electoral Commission of Ghana has been admonished to set and enforce policies and directives geared towards a peaceful Election 2024.
General Overseer of the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), Rev. Ransford Obeng says the Electoral Commission must undertake actions endorsed by contesting parties in the electoral process.
He says fairness from the Commission remains crucial in the general elections.
Ghana’s political landscape is heating up as yet another presidential and parliamentary elections beckon.
The CCC in Kumasi has joined several entities admonishing and advocating for peaceful elections.
Rev. Obeng is encouraging the Electoral Commission to discuss and implement measures that would ensure free, credible and transparent elections.
“In football the referee can influence the outcome of the game and get a team frustrated when he or she is not fair, so in a similar way, the Electoral Commission has a bigger role to ensure the peaceful conduct of the upcoming polls.
“I appeal to the Commission to dialogue with the political parties and civil society groups so that they can collectively create an equal playing field for parties contesting in the December 7 polls,” he said.
The reverend minister made these comments while addressing the media on the church’s upcoming three-day spiritual empowerment programme dubbed the ‘Start Well Conference’’.
The programme will host Dr. Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) and other well-established men of God.
Rev Ransford Obeng, who is hosting the conference said “CCC will for these three days welcome God’s servant who is a good communicator of the word of God that has the potential to prepare us for the year and beyond.
“I am using this opportunity to invite every person living within and outside the Kumasi metropolis to visit CCC and listen to Dr. Mensa Otabil to declare to us the word in season for us to prepare or start the year well so that we can have a good ending in 2024”.
