Zambia takes on Sudan on Tuesday in a 2013 Cecafa Cup semifinal fixture in Mombasa.
Chipolopolo are chasing their first Cecafa Cup final appearance since 2006 when they beat Sudan 11-10 on post-match penalties after a scoreless draw.
And like in 2006, Zambia is taking part in the Cecafa Cup as guest side from the Cosafa zone.
Tuesday’s game will also be a big test as in how far coach Patrice Beaumelle’s side has come in the tournament in which they are unbeaten with three wins and a draw.
And Beaumelle is expected to have a full house following the return from suspension of defenders Roderick Kabwe and Bronson Chama.
Kabwe’s return especially will be a big boost for Beaumelle after his replacements Salulani Phiri and his Kabaso Chongo struggled in the Zanaco’s wingers absence during Sundays post-match penalty win over Burundi following a scoreless draw.
The game will also pit the this year’s tournament top marksmen when Sudans’ Ibrahim Salah and Zambia’s Festus Mbewe on four and three goals respectively face off in the race for the golden boot.
Salah is very familiar to Zambia after scoring a stunning equaliser in June when the two sides met in a 2014 World Cup Group D qualifier that ended 1-1 in Ndola.
Winner on Tuesday will play either Tanzania or hosts Kenya in Thursday’s final in Nairobi.
