The January Medal Open Championship of the Celebrity Golf Club, tees off on Sunday, January 25.
Mr Ato Enndman, General Manager of t he Celebrity Golf Club, who announced this at Tema on Thursday, said about 100 golfers are expected to participate in the one-day 18-Hole Medal event which was opened to amateur golfers from the Greater Accra Region.
He said the event, even though club affair, invitation had been extended to other golf clubs to strengthen the already existing cordial relationship between the clubs.
Mr Enndman said the event which would be played in accordance with the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Celebrity Golf Club, has Handicap 18 and 24 respectively as the entry requirements.
Golfers who had already registered for the competition, which is the first event of the year, are Theophilus Asampong, Akwasi Opoku, Joe Ampofo and Joe Ohemeng, all of the Celebrity Golf Club.
The team from the Achimota Golf Club which would be led by their captain, Bob Evans, would include Mike Aggrey, Charles Tabi, Dan Dennis and Mike Ezan.
Dr Kobina Quansah, President of the Club is expected to deliver his New Year message after the competition.

Mr Emmanuel Kwabena Oteng Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club told GNA Sports in Accra on Thursday that the one-day 18-Hole Medal Play event, which was open to amateur golfers throughout the country, was being sponsored by Esi Cobbina, Lady Captain of the Achimota Golf Club.
Meanwhile Achimota Golf Club would hold Annual General Meeting on Thursday, January 29.
Mr Oteng-Aboagye said the meeting would elect Council Members for the year 2009 and also adopt the report of the Captain and the Treasurer at the meeting which starts at 1730 hours.
