The Bimbong health facility in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern region is struggling to deliver the needed services to people due to the numerous challenges.
The facility, which serves nearly 4,000 persons from Bimbong and the over 10 adjoining farming communities, lacks the required logistics and beds to undertake regular health care services.
Speaking to JoyNews, the nurse in charge of the facility, Nyigma Kofi, said the facility has only four beds - two for the maternity ward and two for the general ward.

He added that there are instances where they pair patients on a single bed to treat them.
"On a normal day, when we have delivery cases, we are compelled to pair patients on the same bed to augment the situation because there are not enough,” he lamented.
"Our staff strength is another problem. The facility is a health centre, but we work as a clinic because we have over 10 communities apart from Bimbong [that are] seeking primary healthcare from us; so, the government should look at that.”
Nyigma Kofi further highlighted that the facility does not have enough medications to administer to patients, adding that they have not received drugs from government for a long time.
He appealed to government and philanthropists to come to their aid.

“We do not have any single drug in this facility. I can't remember the last time they supplied us with medicine [despite] several requests.”
A resident, Jabaab Wumbei, lamented the unavailability of medications at the facility, describing it as demoralising.
He called for urgent steps to be taken to address the challenge.
“As a community member, I feel ashamed, especially when I travel to different parts of the country and see their health system. Look at ours; I call on government to come to our aid,” he pleaded.
