The Executive Committee of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has directed regional and district executives to suspend all industrial actions.Members in parts of the country have been agitating delayed migration onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS).The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) says it has completed processes for the migration of CLOGSAG, but the effective date for implementation is yet to be announced.The Western Regional chapter of CLOGSAG has given government up to the end of August to move them onto the SSSS to avert strike.Similar threats had been carried through by members in the northern region and there are concerns other members in parts of the country may follow suit.But the national leadership is entreating its rank and file to exercise restraint.The CLOGSAG Executive Committee held an emergency meeting in Kumasi to assess recent events in the implementation of the pay policy.A press release signed by Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, appealed to members not to embark on strike.“The Executive Committee will convene a National Executive Council meeting on September 2, 2011 to review the progress of the implementation process in migrating or converting grades within civil and local government service onto the single spine salary structure”, the statement read.Mr. Bampoe Addo told Luv Fm the FWSC must heed to the implementation agreements reached with the CLOGSAG to instill industrial harmony.
