New York boxing promoter Joe DeGuardia, CEO of Star Boxing ,is confident that his boxer and former IBF welterweight champion Joshua “Grand Master” Clottey (37-4, 22 KOs) can upset WBA #3 Anthony” The Man” Mundine (46-5, 27 KOs) at the Entertainment Centre, New South Wales, Australia on Wednesday night and then receive an opportunity to challenge for the WBA light middleweight title held by boxing’s best pound for pound boxer Floyd Mayweather.
DeGuardia said, “I’m looking forward to the Mundine–Clottey fight. It’s an important fight for both of them and at this stage in their careers could very well mean the world championship next for the winner, and retirement for loser.”
Clottey has excellent credentials having defeated Zab Judah in 2008 to capture the IBF welterweight title and in 2009 dropped a split decision to Miguel Cotto in WBO welterweight title challenge.
However his last significant fight was back in 2010 against Manny Pacquiao. The promoters of the Mundine vs. Clottey are Boxa Promotions and Star Boxing. Televised throughout Australia on Foxtel Main Event.
