Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, Espérance de Tunis and Wydad Casablanca are guaranteed a staggering amount of $50 million dollars for just showing up at the Fifa Club World Cup 2025.
Fifa has reportedly revealed the guaranteed prize money for each participating team at the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup, with Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, Espérance de Tunis and Wydad Casablanca set for apparently a sensational payday.
The new 32-team format of the club world cup will feature four African clubs, 12 European clubs, six South American sides, and five teams from North America, Central America, the Caribbean, four Asian outfits and one from Oceania.
The four Caf representatives are Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, Esperance de Tunis and Wydad Athletic Club, with the clubs hailing from four different nations; South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco.
On Tuesday, FIFA confirmed the pots for the upcoming group stage draw, which is set to take place on Thursday, 5 December.
According to SI.com, the world football organising body has increased the total prize money for the competition to a staggering $2.65 billion.
The publication claims that each of the 32 teams participating in the tournament will be guaranteed around $50 million just for turning up, with additional results-based bonuses available.
However, the champions of the Club World Cup will secure a mouthwatering prize of $100 million.
The trophy is made of 24-carat gold, crafted by global luxury jeweller Tiffany and Co.
‘’Innovative, inclusive, groundbreaking and truly global, the new 32-team Fifa Club World Cup deserves a trophy that represents all of this. It is both prestigious and timeless, a golden trophy that is a symbol of the future and inspired by the past said Fifa president Gianni Infantino, according to Goal.
The newly expanded Fifa Club World Cup will take place in the United States between 15 June to 13 July 2025.
Previously an annual tournament contested by the top seven teams, the Club World Cup will now feature 32 teams and occur once every four years.
